Happy New Year!

Out with the old and in with the new! Civilizations around the world have been celebrating the start of each new year for at least four millennia. Today, most New Year’s festivities begin on December 31 (New Year’s Eve), the last day of the Gregorian calendar, and continue into the early hours of January 1 (New Year’s Day). Common traditions include attending parties, eating special New Year’s foods, making resolutions for the new year, and watching fireworks displays. Read more


Parent Training

At ABA Therapy Solutions we take pride in focusing on your child’s individual strengths and positive behaviors. Positive reinforcement is a strategy in which reinforcement is given immediately following a behavior. In simplest terms, when the child displays positive behavior, the child is rewarded. This reinforcement is given in order to increase the occurrence of positive behavior (Applied Behavioral Analysis Program Guide, 2020). Meet Kim!

Kim has been with ABA Therapy Solutions for 5 years, working with children with special needs for over 10 years. She started as an Administrative Assistant, then became a Registered Behavioral Therapist in the field and clinics. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Florida International University in 2013 and a Master’s in Counseling with a concentration in ABA from NOVA Southeastern University in 2017, and now as a BCBA. White House intern with autism changes laws and opens hearts

Xavier DeGroat, a Michigan college student, just completed a landmark internship at the White House, adding to an already impressive list of accomplishments for someone who was once counted out because of his disability. DeGroat, a dedicated autism advocate, interned for President Trump for the last three months in perhaps his boldest effort yet to break down barriers for people on the spectrum. 

He said he’s among the first White House interns known to be autistic. Read more
